Our fashion goal is to create pieces you will feel confident investing in and wearing. Our small batch production is transparent and allows us to fulfill creative passion, while keeping it special.
Dressing with intention. Sofia, owner of Lucuma Boutique and Peruvian designer, Micaela Pinillos wanted to introduce the great textiles of Perú by offering effortless + feminine silhouettes. Explore the behind-the-scenes of LTL's first collection, DESTINO PERÚ, and learn how our pieces come to life.
Lucuma the Label is operated in an intimate "taller" (studio) located in Miraflores, Lima. Micaela is the head designer who works closely with G, our talented patternmaker. We recently hired two seamstresses, Luz and N, who specialize in knitwear and work from home. While we share our Peruvian heritage, we also honor the hands in our process. Each woman who creates our pieces can wear their designs with pride. Our team is treated with love, care and respect.
When creating a collection, Mica beings with concept inspiration and illustrations. Once we finalize our looks, she sources fabrics such as Pima cotton, linen, and alpaca from our trusted vendors. Mica makes biweekly visits to our vendors, Henri, Manuel, and Jack in order to foster relationships and ensure that we source the best quality materials possible. G cuts the fabric and scales the sizes (trial and error), to then sample the feel and fit. This process takes approximately 2-4 months.
Once design is approved, G creates "moldes" or patterns which allow our seamstress to produce your LTL pieces. The turnaround time is approximately 1 month. We then label and ship the pieces to Arlington, Virginia, and Sofia continues the creative communication. Finally, we launch the collection and our pieces make their way to you!
